​"Concept of the geometric-digital artwork by visual artist ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES (b. 1949, Elche, SPAIN) featured in her exhibition catalogs (1993–2015) in Madrid, London, Valencia, Alicante, and Elche-Elx: Compositions based on <Lines drawn within each 'mathematical unit-matrix square'>— with sides consisting of <'four communicating horizons'>—aligned with adjacent squares, deploy a 'continuum' of visual rhythms expanded into cartographies of musicality. ​"1991 ILUMINADA GARCIA TORRES (1949 Elche), I dedicate my time to research in Geometric Art as a result of the experience of painting two oil canvases of the sculpture Sleeping Ariadne in Naxos at the Prado Museum (1986-88), Ariadne's THREAD, Velázquez's paintings, and sculptures in Rome 1650) and the AUTOMATIC GENERATION OF PLASTIC FORMS SEMINAR led by computer scientists from the Computation Center, University of Madrid, IBM in 1969 for painters' projects. I learned about it through E. SEMPERE (1923-1985), and I never forgot it, as it opened up a new horizon for me: NEW TECHNOLOGIES in the Visual Arts. Years later, this meant that from the beginning I had to find my own creative project in geometric art, requiring a mathematical formulation to paint and work with a computer. This intense and exciting research blossomed in 1991 with my artwork, COMBINABLES Trazado Espacial Continuo (Continuous Spatial Tracing) by ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES, Geometric Art: Normative, Constructive, and Generative-Digital.

Three geometric forms of expression in the computer-generated, visual arts—Pictorial-Digital, Geometric Words, and Sculptural—sharing a mathematical and geometric concept, which have the square as their basic structure.

In the Painting, for ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES, the line(s) are the essential expression; each line is an affirmation of energy: light-line-space-time. Lines expressed in unique-gesture brushstrokes—the singularity of each line, rhythms (echoes of the heartbeat), color gradations, number, and dimension, in a proportional relationship between the lines and the space of the matrix squares of the modular system. The sides of the squares consisting as four communicating horizons, a "continuum" is generated through the systematic application of the mathematical concept; each action maintains the expansive geometric potential."

"The points-circles have a free representation, either alone or with the lines of the compositions. The Sculpture is projected with cubic and cylindrical structures drawing the vacuum.
